What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to the site's owners.
Cookies are not programs — they cannot carry viruses or install malware. They are simply text files that your browser stores locally and sends back to the originating website on subsequent visits.
Types by duration
- Session cookies — temporary, deleted when you close your browser. Used to keep you logged in during a session.
- Persistent cookies — remain on your device until they expire or you delete them. Used to remember your preferences across visits.
Types by origin
- First-party cookies — set directly by VeeraPay (veerapay.com). We control these entirely.
- Third-party cookies — set by our trusted third-party service providers (e.g. analytics, payment processors). They may also be read by those providers.
How we use cookies
VeeraPay uses cookies to:
- Keep you securely authenticated while using the platform
- Protect your account from unauthorised access (CSRF protection)
- Remember your preferences such as currency, language, and notification settings
- Understand how our platform is used so we can improve it
- Measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns
- Prevent fraudulent transactions and detect suspicious activity
- Enable escrow and payment features that require session continuity
Types of cookies we use
🟢 Strictly necessary
These cookies are essential for the VeeraPay platform to function. They cannot be turned off. They are typically set in response to actions you take — logging in, starting a transaction, or updating your account settings.
- Authentication tokens (keeping you logged in securely)
- CSRF protection tokens (preventing cross-site request forgery)
- Session identifiers (maintaining your escrow session state)
- Load balancer cookies (routing your requests to the correct server)
- Fraud detection signals (flagging suspicious transaction patterns)
🔵 Functional cookies
These cookies enhance your experience but are not strictly required for core functionality. They remember choices you make and personalise the platform accordingly.
- Preferred currency and language settings
- Dashboard layout and column preferences
- Notification preferences and alert thresholds
- Live chat session state (if you open a support conversation)
🟡 Analytics cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use VeeraPay so we can improve the platform. All data is aggregated and anonymised — no individual is identified.
- Page visit counts and time-on-page metrics
- Feature usage rates (e.g. which storefront tools are used most)
- Error and crash reporting (so we can fix bugs faster)
- Funnel analysis (understanding where users drop off in onboarding)
🔴 Marketing cookies
These cookies track your activity across the web to help us show you relevant advertisements. They are off by default. We only use them if you have explicitly opted in.
- Campaign attribution (understanding which ads led you to VeeraPay)
- Retargeting pixel cookies (showing VeeraPay ads on other platforms)
- Social sharing tracking (when you share content from VeeraPay)
Third-party cookies
We use a small number of trusted third-party services that may set their own cookies when you use VeeraPay. We vet each provider carefully and limit the data they can access.
Service providers we work with
- Stripe / PayPal — payment processing cookies for secure checkout. Subject to their own privacy policies.
- Plausible Analytics — privacy-first, GDPR-compliant analytics. No cross-site tracking. No personal data collected.
- Intercom — live customer support chat. Session cookies only, no marketing tracking.
- Cloudflare — security, CDN, and DDoS protection. Essential security cookies.
- SendGrid / Postmark — transactional email delivery. Email-open tracking pixels (optional, can be disabled).
We do not use Google Analytics in its standard form due to GDPR concerns. We do not embed Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, or other advertising tracking networks by default.
Cookie list
The table below lists the specific cookies VeeraPay uses on veerapay.com as of the last update date. This list is reviewed quarterly.
Your choices & controls
You have full control over non-essential cookies. Here are the ways you can manage them:
1. VeeraPay consent panel
Use the preference panel in the sidebar of this page (or in Account Settings → Privacy once logged in) to enable or disable functional, analytics, and marketing cookies at any time. Your preferences are saved for one year.
2. Browser settings
All major browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in or using the platform.
- Google Chrome — Cookie settings
- Mozilla Firefox — Cookie settings
- Apple Safari — Cookie settings
- Microsoft Edge — Cookie settings
3. Opt-out tools
For analytics and advertising opt-outs at an industry level:
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that signals to websites that you do not want to be tracked across sites.
VeeraPay does not engage in cross-site behavioural tracking, regardless of your DNT setting. We honour DNT signals by defaulting all optional cookies to "off" on your first visit, giving you explicit control before any non-essential data is collected.
Policy updates
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the cookies we use, changes to applicable law, or changes to our service. When we make significant changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Display a notice on the VeeraPay platform asking for renewed consent where required
- Notify registered users by email for material changes affecting their data rights
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of VeeraPay after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy for non-essential cookies you have previously consented to.
